Social Studies

The Social Studies Department at Grove School is committed to helping students develop a civic responsibility as well as a cultural appreciation. Social Studies classes cover a variety of topics in US History, Global Studies, Cultural and Social Issues.  The department promotes critical thinking through analysis of primary sources and develops students’ ability to formulate and support positions on historical and current topics.

    Advanced Placement United States History is designed to provide students with the analytical skills and factual knowledge necessary to deal critically with the problems and materials in United States history.  Students will learn to assess historical materials- their relevance to a given interpretive problem, their reliability, and their importance- and to weigh the evidence and interpretations presented in historical scholarship.
