Social Studies

The Social Studies Department at Grove School is committed to helping students develop a civic responsibility as well as a cultural appreciation. Social Studies classes cover a variety of topics in US History, Global Studies, Cultural and Social Issues.  The department promotes critical thinking through analysis of primary sources and develops students’ ability to formulate and support positions on historical and current topics.

  • Geography

    Grades: 6, 7, 8

    Department: Social Studies

    This course will give a general overview of world geography. Students will study various regions of the world with an emphasis on using maps and the components of understanding maps. Using maps, the student will learn how to better understand various elements of a particular region focusing on climate, physical topography, political aspects and culture. Current events will also be a significant component of the class.
