Social Studies

The Social Studies Department at Grove School is committed to helping students develop a civic responsibility as well as a cultural appreciation. Social Studies classes cover a variety of topics in US History, Global Studies, Cultural and Social Issues.  The department promotes critical thinking through analysis of primary sources and develops students’ ability to formulate and support positions on historical and current topics.

  • Modern US History

    This course will cover the political and economic expansion of the United States beyond its continental borders and the consequences of this expansion on U. S. and world citizens from Post-Reconstruction until the present. It deals with expansion, rapid industrial growth and social changes, the Great Depression, both World Wars, the Cold War, the Civil Rights Movement, and the U. S. from 1968 to present.
