Vanessa is a Connecticut native and wanderlust at heart. She graduated from Bates College with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Spanish, concentration in childhood development, and minor in music. She pursued certification to Teach English as a Foreign Language, and prior to arriving at Grove, Vanessa resided, worked, and traveled in Chile for several years. She was a preschool and elementary school teacher of English, music, and physical education. In addition, she taught Spanish language to foreigners and piano lessons at a language and arts academy.
Throughout her life, Vanessa has been an avid athlete, competing as a softball player, volleyball player, and equestrian. A varsity athlete at Bates College, Vanessa was recognized by the National Fast Pitch Coaches Association All American Scholar Athlete Team in 2010. At Bates Vanessa also satisfied her passion for music, studying piano under American artist and composer, Frank Glazer, and participating in the college choir and orchestra throughout her college career. Vanessa was also an active participant in community programs providing services to the elderly, Somali, and youth populations. Vanessa identifies one of her most impactful life experiences as her time spent living and traveling abroad, satisfying her desire for adventure and to learn about other people.
Vanessa experiences Grove School as a wonderfully dynamic community in which she has the invaluable opportunity to relate to, learn from, and impact others in a powerful way. She appreciates her job greatly since her values lie in compassion and exercising a diverse range of interests and skills in the service of others.< Back
