Teaching Spanish in an Inter-generational Exchange

October 31, 2017

The Spanish IV students of Spanish teacher Ellen Lessard have begun a cultural and linguistic exchange on two fronts.  In September they met a Peace Corps volunteer serving in Paraguay in the health sector and the students were able to ask questions of him about his experience there. He told them of a special holiday to Paraguayans called “Friends Day”.  The students used this information to create a lesson with posters, a song, and an activity to teach kindergarten and preschool children at the Daisy Ingraham Elementary School in Westbrook, Connecticut about “Friend’s Day”.  Both exchanges will continue throughout the year for the Spanish students.
