Social Studies

The Social Studies Department at Grove School is committed to helping students develop a civic responsibility as well as a cultural appreciation. Social Studies classes cover a variety of topics in US History, Global Studies, Cultural and Social Issues.  The department promotes critical thinking through analysis of primary sources and develops students’ ability to formulate and support positions on historical and current topics.

    Department: Social Studies

    World History traces the key events from ancient times to the present. Units include Prehistoric Times, the Peoples of the Near East, India and China, The Greeks, The Romans, The Middle Ages, Revolution and Change, Napoleonic Europe, Industrialization, World War I, World War II, and the Modern World. Emphasis is placed on identifying contributions to the development of human civilization as made by European and non-European cultures.
