Sarah Hallwood has joined the Grove School as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Sarah earned her masters in Social Work at Boston College and is a certified therapeutic horseback riding instructor.
Sarah has expertise in working with clients that have mild to severe clinical psychological needs. Focus areas of her work include, but are not limited to, independent and group treatment of trauma, attachment disorders, mood dysregulation, co-occurring disorders, personality and addictive disorders, legally mandated clients, anger, grief and loss, adoption issues, pervasive sexual trauma, bullying, domestic violence, gender and sexuality, PTSD, and harm reduction, as well as family work.
Using a psychodynamic, relational, human-in-environment perspective alongside evidence based treatment approaches Sarah aims to help students reach their goals, elicit deeper thinking, foster the development of compassion and confidence, enhance relationships, and strive to find coping mechanisms that work for the individual.
Sarah has clinical experience with individual psychotherapy, group psychotherapy, couples therapy, clinical triage, IEP development and support, substance abuse counseling, and crisis intervention. Sarah works to encourage and challenge client’s patterns of thinking and behavior(s) while maintaining a positive and supportive environment though using evidence-based modalities such as Internal Family Systems, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Motivational Interviewing, which she uses in combination with appropriate new age therapies such as Solution Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and expressive therapies.
Outside of work Sarah can be found hiking, horseback riding, kayaking or spending time with friends, family, her horse and her dog.< Back
