Grove School fosters the communication skills of all students through modeling and natural supports within the context of authentic relationships. For most students, natural contexts are best for learning and generalizing pro-social communication and relating skills. Other students, such as those on the Autism Spectrum, may require a more direct approach that breaks down and explicitly teaches the nuances and complexities of social communication.
Speech Therapy Services are provided by a licensed and ASHA certified Speech-Language Pathologist to qualifying students with identified communication and social deficits: Articulation (speech production), Language Development (expressive, receptive), Fluency, Voice, Language Processing, Pragmatic Language and Social Cognition. Services include Assessment and Diagnosis, Treatment planning and provision (direct, indirect, individual, small group) and Consultation with members of the student’s treatment team and educators.
