Melissa Ripani-Carrasquillo is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. Melissa attended and graduated from Southern Connecticut State University with a Bachelors in Psychology. Melissa then remained at the university to continue her studies and went on to receive her Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy also from Southern Connecticut State University.

Melissa began her career working at a facility in Connecticut that supports youth in need of treatment services who are navigating challenges within the legal system. From there, Melissa went on to work with teenagers on probation. Additionally, Melissa began a private practice where she worked full-time for almost 10 years. Melissa worked with a diverse population, with individuals of all age ranges. Melissa worked closely with the high schools nearby, often times attending meetings to advocate and set plans for clients.

Melissa’s approach to therapy is client centered. Melissa supports the client and believes that, more often than not, the client is able to determine where they would like to focus. Melissa will work to devise a therapeutic approach that suits the individual client. Some of the techniques Melissa is the most familiar and proficient with include, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Gestalt, Exposure Therapy, and Trauma Therapy.

In her free time, Melissa enjoys spending time with her children and being outdoors. Melissa is a huge animal lover, having a variety of pets of her own at home. Melissa enjoys traveling and music.
