Philosophy
Built upon decades of collective wisdom and collaboration, Grove School’s holistic treatment program is central to our ethos. Since Grove’s inception in 1934, our approach continues to draw from the diverse perspectives and expertise of our founders, owners, and the esteemed professionals who have lent their insights, creativity, and dedication to our mission.
Distinguished by its innovative design, our program sets us apart from other therapeutic boarding schools in its category. Dr. J. Perlman laid the foundation of Grove School, followed by the stewardship of Dr. J. Sanford Davis and Richard Chorney, who assumed leadership roles over the years. Currently, Peter Chorney oversees the Executive Director responsibilities, maintaining the school’s family-run business and ensuring active participation across all facets of our program.
Rooted in a commitment to excellence, Grove School operates under the guidance of a board of advisors representing diverse fields of expertise, including medicine, education, business, and law. Our board also includes former Grove parents and students, ensuring a community-driven approach to decision making.
“Thanks to the deeply devoted staff, from clinicians to cooks, the structured environment, and therapeutic understanding of how kids grow, our son has grown in more ways than we could have imagined.”
-Ariel I (parent of a 10th grader)
