Transition

Grove School’s Transition Program serves as a natural extension of our main campus program, catering to post-graduate students who require additional support in transitioning to independent living. Our Transition House, conveniently located between Grove’s main campus and downtown Madison, is a coed residence accommodating up to 14 students and supervised by both male and female staff who provide round-the-clock support.

Our Transition program offers a multifaceted approach to preparing students for independent living. From enrolling in community college classes to participating in vocational training and employment opportunities within broader community, each student’s journey is tailored to their unique abilities and aspirations. Some students may set their sights on a traditional four-year university, while others may opt to explore vocational pathways or immerse themselves in the college experience to discern their preferences.

Central to our residential curriculum is the cultivation of essential life skills. Through hands-on experiences such as shopping, cooking, utilizing public transportation, obtaining a driver’s license, and mastering financial literacy, students embark on a journey of self-discovery, empowerment, and autonomy. Our Transition students receive ongoing support from their treatment teams, ensuring holistic growth and development.

Outside of structured programming, Transition students are encouraged to pursue leisure activities and hobbies, fostering a balanced and fulfilling lifestyle. By providing a supportive environment where students can thrive academically, socially, and personally, Grove’s Transition Program paves the way for a successful transition to independent living and adulthood.
