IEP/CSP Process
As part of the Comprehensive Service Plan (CSP) written for each student, Grove School provides a description of the education program for the student which features testing data (if available), diagnosis, identification of disability, strengths/weaknesses, goals and objectives and accommodations/recommendations.
For privately funded students, the CSP is the document in which the student’s educational program is detailed.
For publicly funded students, this Comprehensive Service Plan is used as a recommendation/proposal for the student’s goal and objectives in an individualized education plan (IEP) to be developed by the local education agency (LEA). Grove school presents this information to LEA’s prior to or during IEP meetings. In situations where a student has an already developed IEP, which is presented to Grove by the LEA during the admission process, Grove reviews the IEP and utilizes the goals and objectives in developing the student’s service plan.
It is the policy of Grove School to fully cooperate with LEA’s in developing an appropriate education plan for each student either during admission procedures or immediately following admission. It is also the policy of Grove School to utilize up to forty-five (45) days of observation of a student to develop goals and objectives for a service plan based on observed needs of the student. Therefore, IEPs defined at admission may be revised through the IEP process if changes are recommended following the observation period.
Each student is assigned an Academic Case Manager who is the education representative at IEP meetings. Academic Case Managers will ask teachers for their input in developing goals and objectives either via Team Meetings, email, meetings etc. Teachers play a vital role in developing goals and objectives either for IEP meetings or for CSPs.
