The Social Studies Department at Grove School is committed to helping students develop a civic responsibility as well as a cultural appreciation. Social Studies classes cover a variety of topics in US History, Global Studies, Cultural and Social Issues. The department promotes critical thinking through analysis of primary sources and develops students’ ability to formulate and support positions on historical and current topics.

Civics is a course designed to give the student an understanding of the American government by learning how to apply and evaluating governmental strategies and theories. Current events will be discussed weekly and a large focus will be placed on students learning how to be an active and responsible citizen in our society. In addition, students will gain an understanding of inflation, unemployment, interest rates, recessions, depression and recovery.
