Deep Roots Farm
On Grove School’s farm, students learn the values of empathy, compassion, and responsibility by caring for the animals. Whether feeding the chickens, changing the bedding for the goats, or giving the bunnies a little extra love, our students cultivate vocational skills grounded in a positive work ethic and a commitment to animal care.
Each day, students individually tend to the needs of our farm animals through feeding, socialization, and habitat maintenance. Students may be groundskeepers, compost managers, or garden caretakers, all contributing to the farm’s overall vitality. In addition to tackling daily chores, students also engage in self-initiated projects. Past projects have included designing and constructing a duck habitat, a chicken tree house, a goat playground, and an artfully rendered compost bin.
