Admissions

Our admissions process includes five steps:

STEP 1: Review of Supporting Documents

To determine the eligibility of any prospective student, our admissions team reviews the following information:

  • Neuropsychological testing, if applicable

  • Psychological and educational testing

  • IEP from home district, if applicable

  • Current transcript showing grades and credits earned to-date

  • Letter from current providers and/or Release Form to communicate with our admissions team

  • Discharge summary from hospitalizations or prior programs, if applicable

  • Medication history, if applicable

STEP 2: Communication with Key Players

After reviewing both clinical and academic documents for each student, our admissions team schedules calls with the following people:

  • Parents and/or legal guardians

  • Current clinical team

  • School district, if applicable

  • Educational consultant, if applicable

STEP 3: Review of Online Application

Grove’s online application is available under the “Admissions” tab on the Grove School website. Parents/guardians who provide detailed, transparent information about their child’s history give our admissions team the best chance to evaluate accurately that child’s level of appropriateness for our program.

STEP 4: Campus Visit and Interview

Grove’s admissions team offers a tour of our campus and an in-person interview after we have completed a full review of the prospective student and determined that our program could be an appropriate fit. For students applying to Grove directly from wilderness programs or residential treatment centers, we offer virtual campus tours and remote interviews.

STEP 5: Presentation to the Admissions Committee

The final review of each prospective student takes place in our weekly Admissions Committee meetings. Decisions about acceptance are made by a group comprised of our Director of Admissions, CEO, Executive Director, Clinical Director, Medical Director, Principal, Residential Director, and other appropriate administrative staff.  In addition to the clinical and academic information gathered throughout the admissions process, each student’s level of interest and motivation to become a part of the Grove community—and each family’s commitment and willingness to be a positive force in their child’s treatment—is considered by the admissions committee.

Parents/guardians, their child, and referring parties are informed of admission by a letter of acceptance. All accepted students will enter a three-month probationary period during which they will be continually evaluated by their treatment team. Grove School reserves the right to terminate a student’s placement at any time if that student exhibits behavior contrary to admissions criteria as indicated in the referral materials, or if termination is in the best judgment and discretion of the school.
