She has a diverse clinical background managing patients in varied settings including family and internal medicine, urgent care settings, as well as residential treatment facilities.
Shandel became a healthcare provider because she had one desire – to help others. Over the course of her career, she came to realize the meaningful and sometimes unfortunately overlooked role of providing holistic patient-centered care for mental health patients. She believes in a team-based model of care which aims to meet the patient and family’s needs and preferences by earnestly engaging patients as full participants in their care. She is committed to providing a collaborative relationship with the patient, family, and team members to achieve treatment goals.
In her free time, Shandel spends much of her time with her family and pets. She enjoys horseback riding, traveling, reading books, and going to local beaches. She finds reward in giving back to the community and has completed volunteer work as the Vice President and Funds Manager for the 52-52 Cancer Run and as a Tactical Combat Role Player for T2 Trauma Training. She has also volunteered for the American Heart Association and Oasis Facility Soup Kitchen.
