Thomas Kitay, LMSW

Thomas Kitay is a Licensed Master Social Worker who earned his master’s degree in social work from Fordham University’s Graduate School of Social Services and his bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Binghamton University.

 

Acknowledging that life can often be difficult to navigate, Thomas believes that everyone possesses the strength and resilience to grow beyond their circumstances and live a more fulfilling life. He has 15 years of experience working with adolescents, young adults, and families. Throughout his career in mental health, Thomas has worked in outpatient, residential, in-home, and school settings. He also has extensive experience in private practice, with specialized focus areas including behavioral issues, trauma, anxiety disorders, and depressive disorders. In addition, he has a significant history of supporting adolescents experiencing substance use challenges.

Thomas is dedicated to meeting each student where they are and providing the guidance and support needed to help them achieve their goals. He approaches therapy through a relational lens and enjoys integrating psychoeducation, cognitive behavioral therapy, and other evidence-based approaches to support his students’ growth.

Outside of his role as a clinician, Thomas is actively engaged in playing ice hockey (formerly at the collegiate level) and enjoys kayaking and fishing on the Long Island Sound.
